There isn’t a right way to enjoy G Scale. Whether it is run indoor or in the garden, large layouts or small, modelling prototypical operations or just enjoying the trains go round – everyone has their own way to enjoy our hobby,.

There are thousands of G Scale layouts around the UK in gardens, attics and spare rooms – but unless you know where they are tucked away, you may not have come across them before. When people hear about ‘garden railways’, they often believe it takes a large investment and acres of land. That isn’t the case and we’ve featured layouts from a handful of our members below to showcase their layouts and tell their story.

HSBA Garden Railway

The HSBA Garden Railway is a layout based in Jersey, Channel Islands and built by Nikki & Curtis Stanier. Over 138m (455ft) of track navigate through tunnels, over bridges and past the pond in a garden in the Jersey parish of St. Mary.

Woodlock Logging

Woodlock Logging is a gem of a railway developed over several years. Paul enjoys both gardening and railways and was keen to create a space he could enjoy both his hobbies. This ground-level railway makes wonderful use of the available space and continues to mature.

Thornbers

Thornbers is a raised garden railway created by Oliver. Over the past few years, his railway has expanded from his carport.

The Wychbold and Stoke Prior Railway
